Description: This work was
commissioned by Kildare County Council for their Municipal Art
Collection to honour representatives of the
Covid 19 Frontline Workers.
In July 2020, Kildare Library and Arts Service asked members of the
public to nominate someone they felt deserved to be recognised for
their efforts to help and support others throughout the
COVID19 pandemic. Ten local heroes were selected to have their
portrait painted
by eight selected artists with links to
Co.Kildare. Photographer Johnny Savage was commissioned to take
portrait photos and the artists
used these photos as visual
aids to create our work.

Title: Jack L at home in daylight

Description: Jack Lukeman and
I share the same hometown of Athy in Co.Kildare. In 2007 Jack L
generously created the music for
Auricle, my solo exhibition. In my painting Jack L is outside his
home in the daylight and the surrounding fields are just about
visible in
the far distance.
This work was exhibited at the 181st Royal Hibernian Academy Annual
Exhibition 2011.
Title: Edel McWeeney

Description: Edel McWeeney is
a renowned traditional musician and fiddle player. This work was
created in 2012 using an old photo of
Edel, given to me by Edel's husband Ciaran O' Maonaigh. Photos of
Edel positioned in the background and compositional lines are
purposely suggestive of Edels’ occupation and life’s work.

Lenny and his fire engine truck, commissioned by his Nana, focusing
on the connection between child and
toy and not forgetting the dinosaurs.

Description: The discarded
toys and a child is at ease with the world in the comfort of his
home whilst his toy dinosaur watches us, this work
wasn't planned as a painting derivative of lockdown but it reminds
me of that time just the same.
