My painting of Birr Castle Demesne was painted directly from life and completed in my studio over the summer of 2020. I created this work for a group exhibition in celebration of the Castle Gardens and to commemorate the Parsons Family 400 years at the Castle. The Leviathan of Parsonstown, the giant telescope in the foreground of my painting, was engineered by the third Earl of Rosse in the 1840's and remained the largest in the world for over 70 years. It was wonderful to meet people and their pets from near, far & from a distance on account of Covid 19, whilst painting in the Castle Grounds.
